According to CoinMeta, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal is investigating a matter where Tether paid $6.3 million to Nxum, a company associated with former Trump advisor Bo Haynes, involving a potential conflict of interest. Tether agreed in May 2025 to pay $415,000 per month to Nxum for lobbying and public relations services, at a time when Bo Haynes served as the executive director of the White House Digital Assets Advisory Committee.
