According to CoinMeta, the UK government announced on Saturday that it will invest approximately 600 million pounds (about 800 million US dollars) to enhance artificial intelligence security, with a focus on preventing the biological, health, and cyber security threats posed by AI. Of this amount, 100 million pounds will be used to build a AI biosafety laboratory, and 65 million pounds will be allocated to the development of measures to counter pathogens. OpenAI and Anthropic will provide model usage quotas of up to 200 million pounds each, with companies such as Google DeepMind also offering their support. The existing AI Security Research Institute will receive an additional 120 million pounds, and another 130 million pounds will be used to strengthen the cyber defense of critical infrastructure and the overall economy. The government will also allocate 60 million pounds to invest in AI robotics, automation, and manufacturing enterprises, and to support AI research, chip design, medical policy innovation, and local AI projects. Minister Kanishka Narayanan stated that the government aims to build the AI biosafety laboratory into an institution of global influence, bringing together the world's top scientific research forces to protect the public from emerging biological threats.
