According to CoinMeta, the South Korean government and the Bank of Korea plan to revise the "Foreign Exchange Transactions Act" within this year, defining stablecoins as payment tools and establishing a monitoring framework for virtual assets. The Bank of Korea is coordinating with the government on regulatory measures for cross-border digital asset transactions and intends to jointly submit a legislative bill within the year to incorporate stablecoins into the Foreign Exchange Act along with a corresponding monitoring system. Lee Eui-yon, the chairman of the Financial Services Commission, stated at a hearing on Thursday that discussions regarding the "Digital Assets Basic Act" are nearly complete, and the government will push for its enactment.
