According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Coindesk, a report from the cryptocurrency advocacy organization Stand With Crypto shows that within 90 days from May to August 2026, approximately 9,800 British users filed 10,092 complaints regarding banks' restrictions on cryptocurrency transactions. Of these, Lloyds Banking Group received 2,297 complaints, Barclays received 1,569, and NatWest received 1,278. Some banks have set limits on cryptocurrency transfers, while banks such as Chase and Starling have completely banned such transactions. The organization believes that these banking restrictions may hinder users from using regulated cryptocurrency trading platforms and affect the UK's goal of developing the digital asset industry.
