According to CoinMeta, the Dutch government has announced a large-scale layoff plan to gradually replace some public services with artificial intelligence (AI) over the next decade, aiming to significantly reduce the number of civil service positions in order to achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Under the newly proposed plan for an efficient government, the Netherlands intends to cut 25,000 civil service positions, which accounts for about 15% of the total number of civil servants. The eliminated positions will be replaced by standardized information technology systems and AI tools. Through this large-scale downsizing, the Dutch government plans to save 3.5 billion euros in expenses each year starting from 2035.
