Thailand's Supreme Court recognizes Bitcoin as legal property

According to CoinMeta, the Supreme Court of Thailand ruled in a robbery case that Bitcoin is considered legal property. The court dismissed the defendant's claim that Bitcoin has no intrinsic value. The robbers forced the victim to exchange $50,000 for approximately 2.48 BTC and transferred them to them. The judge ruled that Bitcoin’s market price, its ability to be exchanged for cash, and its capacity to be owned make it property protected by criminal law. The court upheld the 10-year prison sentence for a man who assisted the robbers.
