Institutions such as Citibank and Goldman Sachs expect the Bank of Japan to keep interest rates unchanged

According to CoinMeta, institutions such as Citibank, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and ANZ Bank expect the Bank of Japan to maintain interest rates at 1.25% unchanged, with the next rate hike expected to occur in December. Citibank notes that the market has already fully reflected a gradual path of future rate hikes, so the impact of the October decision on the Japanese yen, Japanese bonds, and the Japanese stock market may be limited. Goldman Sachs expects the core inflation forecast for fiscal year 2026 to be lowered, reflecting the current low level of inflation. Bank of America believes that the voting outcome is likely to be 8 to 1, with the hawkish member Takada possibly casting the only opposing vote in favor of a rate hike. ANZ Bank expects the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates by 25 basis points in December and again by 25 basis points in March 2027.
