According to CoinMeta, a survey released by the European Central Bank on Friday shows that inflation rates in the eurozone are expected to be significantly higher this year and next year than previously anticipated, and it may take until 2028 to return to the target level of 2%. Last month, the eurozone's inflation rate soared to nearly twice the target level, affected by a significant increase in energy costs, and inflation rates may continue to rise in the future. Although policymakers decided to keep interest rates unchanged at their meeting on Thursday, the inflation situation could force the European Central Bank to raise rates again in December. According to the survey, the average inflation rate this year is expected to be 3.0% (previously predicted at 2.7%), and the forecast for next year has been raised from 2.2% to 2.6%. However, the forecast change for the underlying inflation rate is relatively small, indicating that the main driver of inflation is energy costs, which are currently at a level between a "unfavorable" and "severe" scenario.
