According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, with the midterm elections in the United States on November 3 approaching, the business partnerships established by media groups such as Kalshi, Polymarket, CNN, CBS News, CNBC, Dow Jones, and Fox have drawn attention. Based on data from Dune, Bloomberg estimates that the cumulative trading volume in the midterm election-related forecasting market across these two platforms amounted to approximately $1.5 billion. The collaboration between CNBC and Kalshi involved customer acquisition and a small amount of equity investment. CBS News listed Kalshi as a sponsor of the forecasting market, while The Wall Street Journal, a subsidiary of Dow Jones, displayed data from Polymarket. However, CNN stated that they would not reference forecasting odds during live broadcasts on election night, and Fox News explicitly excluded political reporting from the scope of their cooperation with Kalshi. The report indicates that the financial terms of these agreements are mostly not made public, and some media commentators are concerned that commercial interests may affect the independence of news reporting.
