According to CoinMeta, DeepSeek's second round of financing has raised 105.5 billion yuan (about 15.8 billion US dollars), attracting nearly 30 investors, with Tencent and CATL being the main investors. State-owned investors contributed about 27% of the financing amount, which is higher than the 2% in the first round. Tencent invested 10 billion yuan in both rounds of financing, while CATL and its chairman invested a total of 5 billion yuan in the first round and 10 billion yuan in this round respectively. Other investors include ChangXin Memory, SMIC, vivo, Meituan, etc., with each investor contributing between 1 billion and 3 billion yuan. The National Artificial Intelligence Development Fund also invested 1 billion yuan in this round. The expansion of financing is mainly related to the rising cost of chip procurement and the need for capital reserves. The price of servers equipped with 8 NVIDIA B300 chips has increased from about 15 million yuan to 19 million yuan. People familiar with the matter said that DeepSeek doubled the scale of its fundraising during the process to cope with the risk of a possible bubble bursting in the AI industry.
