Blackstone expects Anthropic to receive a junk rating after listing; over $800 billion in AI computing power plans face financing pressure
2026-10-31 16:49:37
According to CoinMeta, Blackstone expects that after the listing of Anthropic, it may not be able to immediately obtain an investment-grade rating. It is more likely that major rating agencies will assign it a rating in the BB range, which is considered speculative (commonly known as "junk grade"). If Anthropic ultimately receives a junk grade, its financing costs could increase, and the range of funds that institutions restricted to investment-grade investments, such as insurance companies and pension funds, can participate in will also narrow. The financing pressure mainly comes from Anthropic's massive computing power expenditure plan, which aims to invest over $800 billion in computing power infrastructure by 2045. Although Anthropic currently holds more than $112 billion in cash and equivalents and plans to further finance through IPO, the long-term commitment to computing power still raises concerns among investors regarding its future funding needs and debt sustainability.
