According to CoinMeta, North Korea is accused of accounting for over 75% of hacking activities in the cryptocurrency sector. Based on data from TRM Labs, since 2017, North Korean hackers have stolen approximately $12.8 billion in cryptocurrency assets. In just nine months of 2025, hackers stole at least $1.65 billion, which is 3.5 times North Korea's legal export revenue for that year.
