According to CoinMeta, global investment firm Brookfield has appointed KB National Bank of Korea as the lead arranger for what is considered the largest syndicated loan in South Korean history, amounting to $8 billion (about 10.7 trillion Korean won). The loan is intended to provide financial support for South Korean technology giant Naver to purchase artificial intelligence chips. KB National Bank of Korea stated on Sunday that the loan funds will be used to acquire artificial intelligence computing infrastructure, including graphics processing units (GPUs). This loan is part of a financing package totaling 12.6 trillion Korean won, and the related artificial intelligence chips will be provided to Naver Cloud through a long-term leasing arrangement. Banks and private credit funds in Asia are expanding their artificial intelligence financing business, which now covers more than just data center construction; it also includes hardware equipment such as chips that provide computational power support.
