Hackers use Claude, Gemini, and Kimi to identify valuable encryption targets

According to CoinMeta, cybercriminals are utilizing popular artificial intelligence models, such as Claude from Anthropic, Google's Gemini, and Kimi from Moonshot AI, to assess the financial value of potential victims, including users who possess cryptocurrencies. Researchers from Cisco Talos have described a new type of malware called Volta in their report. This malware steals sensitive data and uses AI tools to identify profitable targets. Unlike traditional malware, Volta not only steals passwords but also analyzes data to create victim profiles and extract information from encrypted wallets, including recovery phrases, which may grant attackers access to digital assets. Volta can also crack encrypted wallets, capture browser passwords, payment card information, and email credentials. It obtains more personal data by analyzing the victims' emails and sends the stolen data to the AI model for analysis, providing an assessment of the victims' financial value.
