Standard Chartered: The Democrats gain a majority of seats, but the actions that will truly have an economic impact may be limited
2026-11-04 15:13:34
According to CoinMeta, analysts Steve Englander and Dan Pan from Standard Chartered Bank stated in a report that the core issue of concern for the asset markets is what the results of the mid-term elections in the United States will mean for policy direction over the next two years. They pointed out that even if the Democrats significantly expand their majority, it is unlikely they will gain a sufficient number of seats to override the president's veto power. Therefore, while there may be plenty of policy discussions, the actual actions that have a significant economic impact could be limited. In addition, they mentioned that budget negotiations in December 2026 and debt ceiling negotiations at the end of 2027 could once again trigger government shutdowns and the risk of debt default.
