Swiss UBS: The divided landscape of the US government is expected to support US Treasury bonds
2026-11-04 16:05:32
According to CoinMeta, Andrew Jackson, the head of investment at UBS Group in Switzerland, stated in a report that since the U.S. government is divided between different political parties in both houses of Congress, it may be able to provide support for the U.S. Treasury market by limiting further increases in fiscal spending. However, he also pointed out that preventing new spending does not equate to reducing the existing fiscal deficit. Jackson noted that the persistent fiscal deficit and the large issuance of Treasurys could still limit the downward potential for long-term U.S. bond yields, even if Congress's checks and balances on the Trump administration are strengthened. He also mentioned that, compared to election results, inflation trends and the Federal Reserve's monetary policy may have a greater impact on the bond market. If energy prices rise again, it could also complicate market prospects.
