According to CoinMeta, and as reported by the British "Financial Times," the diesel deal reached between Trump and Russian President Putin before the U.S. midterms is facing obstacles. Among the oil tankers that were originally scheduled to sail to the United States, two have changed course, heading to Brazil and the Mediterranean respectively, while another is still on its way to the U.S., though the buyer and port of discharge have not yet been confirmed. Another tanker subject to sanctions has set off from Russia and continues on its journey toward the U.S. Cheryl Christie, the governor of New Jersey, has written to the state's port and dock operators, demanding that they refuse to accept any oil tankers carrying Russian diesel, otherwise they will face severe penalties. Matt Smith, an analyst at the commodity analysis firm Kpler, stated that the two batches of Russian diesel cargo have changed course, and a third batch may also change its route due to regulatory and sanctions risks. Jacob Meldegaard, the CEO of the tanker company Torm, believes that even though the U.S. government is trying to promote Russia's reintegration into the global economy, there are still significant obstacles in actual implementation. The latest data shows that the supply of diesel in the U.S. has further tightened, with inventories dropping below 100 million barrels for the first time in over 20 years.
