According to CoinMeta, Jeffries, the leader of the minority party in the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Wednesday regarding the Democrats' performance in the midterms: "This is not just a blue wave, but a 'tsunami' sweeping across America." The advantage gained by the Democrats will provide Jeffries, who is set to succeed Johnson as Speaker of the House, with sufficient leverage to advance the party's legislative priorities for next year. These include expanding Obamacare subsidies, repealing Republican cuts to Medicaid, and ending the Iran war. Jeffries stated that it is necessary to end this reckless and costly war, which was avoidable and has led to soaring gasoline prices; she also called for a halt to Trump's tariffs, which increase the annual living costs for ordinary Americans by thousands of dollars. Schumer, the leader of the Democratic Party in the U.S. Senate, has also expressed a desire to limit the president's power to wage war and is working with Republicans on this issue. Democratic leaders have pledged to actively investigate allegations of corruption within the government, including a thorough review of policies that have benefited Trump and his family. However, Jeffries downplayed the idea of impeaching the president, saying, "None of the members of the Democratic caucus in the House of Representatives has discussed impeachment with me. 'We have always been committed to issues of affordability and accountability.'"
