According to CoinMeta, Indian regulatory authorities have relaxed the "Know Your Customer" requirements for overseas individual investors. Investors from jurisdictions that meet the standards of the Financial Action Task Force no longer need to visit India in person to complete the digital account opening process. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) stated on Wednesday that the revised rules will come into effect on December 3 and apply to non-Indian citizens of Indian descent and foreign nationals. However, foreign citizens seeking to obtain Indian investment permits through the "Foreign Portfolio Investor" channel will continue to be governed by the relevant regulations.
