Polygon Plans a Hard Fork to Recover $6.5 Million in Stolen Funds
2026-11-05 17:49:37
According to CoinMeta, the developers of Polygon plan to force a hard fork to reset the hackers' wallets to zero, in order to recover the $6.5 million that was stolen from Polymarket and Binance. This crisis originated from two separate hacker attacks at the end of October, with the stolen assets scattered across five wallets. A proposal regarding Polygon has sparked a community vote; if approved, the new software will be released within two weeks, and exchanges and node operators will need to update their systems urgently. Users who refuse to switch to the new code will be automatically isolated on the old blockchain.
