Apple's bond issuance received $31 billion in subscriptions, with over 4 times the oversubscription

According to CoinMeta, Apple Inc. (AAPL) issued approximately $7 billion in investment-grade bonds, attracting orders for around $31 billion, with an over-subscription of more than 4 times, and successfully reducing financing costs. The issuance was divided into 7 tranches. The yield on the longest-term bond, which matures in 2036, was 55 basis points higher than that of U.S. Treasury bonds and lower than the financing spreads of similar bonds recently issued by Microsoft, Meta, and Oracle. Apple's credit rating is SPG AA+, and its last bond issuance was in May 2025. The funds raised from this financing will be used for general corporate expenses, including share repurchases. The report notes that at a time when large technology companies are intensively issuing AI-related debt and investors have doubts about the returns on AI infrastructure spending, Apple is less involved in large-scale AI infrastructure investments, focusing instead on consumer products and shareholder returns, thereby attracting investors seeking to avoid AI debt risks. During this issuance period, the U.S. stock market experienced selling pressure, and the cost of default protection for investment-grade bonds once rose by 5.1%.
