Bank of America Securities: Continuing rise in oil prices may drive interest rates sharply higher
2026-11-06 12:35:46
According to CoinMeta, Bank of America Securities pointed out in a research report that if crude oil and refined oil prices continue to rise over the next three to six months, it could lead to a significant increase in interest rates. The two-year nominal interest rate swap in the United States, which reflects market expectations for interest rates over the next two years, has risen by 113 basis points since the beginning of the year. On trading days when oil prices rose, this rate increased by a total of 196 basis points, while on other trading days it decreased by a total of 83 basis points. Bank of America believes that if energy inflation rises, the Federal Reserve may face fewer constraints when considering raising interest rates, as the U.S. economy and consumer performance are resilient, and the labor market is also relatively tight.
