According to CoinMeta, the International Energy Agency (IEA) stated on Friday that driven by the current energy crisis, in the next five years, the new installed capacity of renewable energy in emerging and developing economies outside of China is expected to match that of developed economies for the first time. In its annual outlook report, the IEA predicts that from 2026 to 2031, the global installed capacity of renewable energy will increase by nearly 4800 gigawatts, of which emerging and developing economies are expected to add about 1100 gigawatts, roughly equivalent to that of developed economies, while China is expected to add about 2550 gigawatts. The IEA also indicated that in the next five years, the growth rate of renewable energy installations in Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East is expected to triple, with the growth mainly driven by solar projects.
