According to CoinMeta, Hernández de Cos, the candidate for President of the European Central Bank and member of the Governing Council, stated that monetary policy makers should continue to pay attention to the inflation risks brought about by high energy prices. In an interview, he mentioned that what is known as the second-round effect has not yet occurred. He pointed out that initially, people hoped that the war would end quickly, which would lead to a decline in energy prices, but this hope did not materialize, referring to the war in Iran. He emphasized the need to remain vigilant against inflation risks. Additionally, Hernández de Cos expressed concern about the high debt levels of some economies, believing that this will be a risk factor given that borrowing costs may rise further. He noted that the public debt of some countries has reached historical highs, and fiscal deficits remain high, with higher interest rates increasing the cost of debt repayment.
