According to CoinMeta, former Chief Financial Officer CFO and Chief Strategy Officer Dave Wehner have announced their departures to join the AI inference platform Fireworks AI as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Strategy Officer, respectively. Wehner joined Facebook in 2012, was promoted to CFO in 2014, and then became Chief Strategy Officer in 2022. He has worked at Meta for 14 years and has been involved in the company's transformation from a social networking giant to a metaverse company. Fireworks AI was founded by former Meta AI infrastructure leader Lin Qiao; it primarily helps companies deploy, operate, and customize open-source AI models. The company recently completed a $1.505 billion Series D financing in July this year, raising its valuation to $17.5 billion, with annual revenue exceeding $1 billion, and processing over 40 trillion token per day, of which more than 95% comes from custom models for clients. Fireworks plans to launch a new round of financing next week, aiming for a valuation of at least $30 billion; if achieved, the valuation is expected to increase by about 71% in less than four months.
