According to CoinMeta, crypto investor Evan Luthra confirmed that he was kidnapped and robbed in Oxford, UK, in November 2025. Five masked men forced him to hand over over $2 million in crypto assets and a watch. The attackers withdrew more than $1.5 million from his Binance account and transferred approximately $600,000 from his Gate account. Luthra stated that Binance and MEXC assisted in freezing some of the funds, and nearly $1 million has been recovered so far, with Binance returning about $370,000. The trial, which was originally scheduled for this month, has now been postponed to November 2027.
