BNB Chain Releases Urgent Node Software Fix to Resolve Blockchain State Calculation Errors
2026-11-09 05:42:28
According to CoinMeta, BNB Chain has announced an emergency software update to address a calculation error in the blockchain state, requiring validators and node operators to install the BSC-RETH hotfix. Developers have found that this error may lead to incorrect blockchain state calculations under certain conditions. As per the GitHub release on November 6th, the v0.1.4-hotfix update fixed the state root calculation error that affected BSC-RETH. BNB Chain stated that the impact of this issue is limited, and ordinary users do not need to take any action. The vulnerability stems from the legacy state root calculation path executed by the RETH client, which may produce incorrect results under specific conditions involving the blockchain data structure. This update applies to validators, maximum extractable value (MEV) builders, full nodes, and sentinel operators; operators must install the new version and restart their nodes. This update emphasizes the importance of infrastructure reliability, and BNB Chain continues to expand its transaction processing capacity through network upgrades.
