According to CoinMeta, several U.S. officials revealed to CBS (CBS) that despite the results of the mid-term elections being out, it is unlikely that the Trump administration will reduce its tough crackdown on illegal immigrants. These officials pointed out that this is because Stephen Miller, who holds a hard-line stance on immigration, has been promoted to serve as Director of the White House Office. The Republicans suffered a crushing defeat in the mid-term elections, even in traditional “red states” such as Texas. Exit polls showed that for Latino voters in Texas, immigration issues, along with economic issues, became one of their top concerns; and this group significantly shifted their support to the Democrats in these elections. In addition, nationwide, 58% of voters believe that the Trump administration’s deportation efforts have “gone too far.”
