AI Assistants are moving from office scenarios to daily life. A US startup, Fambot, recently launched a AI tool for families, aimed at helping parents manage trivial tasks such as children's activities, school notifications, group chat messages, and family schedules.

Aiming at the overload of family information

Fambot positions the product as a "AI task assistant" for parents. Once users connect their email, calendars, and the WhatsApp groups they need to follow, the system organizes daily to-dos and provides advance reminders about upcoming family arrangements.

This company was co-founded by former Instagram engineer Greg Karlin, former UnitedMasters president and Uber product leader David Reich, as well as Jason Morrow who has worked at Google and LinkedIn. Reich mentioned that he has three children and that his time is often taken up by emails, group chats, and school-related information, which was also the direct reason why the team decided to develop this product.

Connect to email, calendar, and group chats

In their descriptions, the sources of information that parents face are not limited to emails; they also include school applications, sports and club tools, home-school communication groups, as well as printed notices. Fambot hopes to centralize the processing of this dispersed information in order to reduce the time parents need to manually follow up on it.

The product currently supports connecting to email, calendars, and WhatsApp. After the integration is completed, the system will generate a daily list showing important tasks in the upcoming schedule. In addition to using it through web pages and mobile devices, users can also directly send messages to Fambot to ask questions or request updates.

The company stated that it uses a combination of multiple AI models at the underlying level, but these models are not trained with user data. Fambot believes that this is particularly important for home users, as such scenarios often involve sensitive information such as communication between children, schools, and families.

More than 1,000 families have been tested.

Before its official launch, Fambot has been tested in over 1,000 households. The company stated that early feedback indicates that the product is suitable not only for dual-income families with multiple children, but also for single-parent families, families with only one child, and other types of families with different structures.

In terms of financing, Fambot received $3.5 million in seed pre-financing, led jointly by NextView Ventures and Baukunst. Correlation Ventures, Karman Ventures, and Founders Network also participated in the investment.

Currently, Fambot is available for free in trial versions on iOS, Android, and the web platform. The company plans to adopt a subscription-based pricing model in the future, with the price likely to be around the monthly fee level of Netflix, although the final pricing has not yet been determined.
