IT News on September 29th: According to "Xi'an Release," the BYD new energy vehicle power battery project (Xixian Base), located in Qinhan New City of Xixian New Area, has been fully completed and put into production. As the core battery hub for BYD's layout in the northwest, the full production of this base marks a new stage for the intelligent connected vehicle industry in Qinhan New City.

The project is located in the Xixian New Area's Qinhan Autonomous Driving Industrial Park, mainly focusing on the construction of new energy vehicle power battery Cell, Pack production lines, and related production and living facilities. According to the introduction, the Xixian base is not only one of the first production bases for the second-generation blade batteries but also a core carrier for the mass production of fast charging technology. It covers the entire process from electrode preparation to cell formation, from module assembly to battery pack integration, and then to system testing. The MES intelligent manufacturing system is adopted to achieve intelligent and efficient production.
The project has been fully put into production, providing localized core battery support for Xi'an BYD's vehicle manufacturing and further improving the regional new energy vehicle industry chain.
On October 17, 2025, the first batch of battery cells from the Xixian base were successfully produced. It took only 10 months from the signing of the contract to the commencement of production. In March 2026, BYD officially launched its second-generation blade batteries and flash charging technology. The Xixian base was selected as one of the first production sites for these second-generation blade batteries and began trial production.
As previously reported by IT, in June this year, He Zhiqi, the executive vice president of BYD, revealed that the production capacity of BYD's second-generation blade batteries at the Xixian base has been steadily increasing, and the production line is running more smoothly. The Seal 08 model, which was launched on July 2nd, is also produced in Xi'an, and its mass production is currently going very smoothly as well.
Earlier this month, BYD disclosed that in the second half of 2026, the monthly production capacity of its second-generation blade batteries will gradually increase to meet terminal demand. Currently, there are a large number of market orders for fast-charging models, and the company is continuously expanding production lines to match these orders.
