OpenAssets launches Sentinel: a OpenCompliance platform driven by AI, aimed at modernizing financial market infrastructure
Sentinel is the evidence layer of the tokenization market, capable of transforming written obligations into machine-readable controls and generating continuous, portable proofs.
Pittsburgh, September 29th ( PRNewswire ) – Digital asset infrastructure provider OpenAssets today announced the launch of Sentinel, a platform designed for institutions and driven by AI, with the aim of modernizing financial market infrastructure.
The company stated that financial market infrastructure is being rebuilt around tokenized securities, regulated stablecoins, and continuous settlement, and the accompanying compliance obligations are also ongoing. OpenAssets mentioned that nowadays, most compliance work still involves compiling a stack of screenshots and spreadsheets afterwards. The design goal of Sentinel is to bind these obligations with control measures at the time they are established, to prove the state of a certain control at any given point in time, and to export these proofs as needed, thereby turning audit and due diligence responses into queries against continuous records, rather than temporary projects.
The company stated that the models within the system would recommend how a certain obligation should be linked to a particular control and the evidence that supports the fulfillment of that control, which would then be reviewed and decided upon by designated personnel. Each inference made would be recorded along with the human operations it affects. Whenever a control is satisfied, an additional audit log is generated immediately. OpenAssets also makes available the control mapping architecture used by Sentinel, enabling counterparties, auditors, and suppliers to verify the coverage and exchange evidence, eliminating the need for the repeated manual communications commonly seen in compliance due diligence processes.
- Verifiable proof. The coverage can be exported as needed according to the framework and period, rather than being temporarily organized as a one-time project before the plan review.
- Designed for the existing operating methods of the tokenization market. Sentinel is built around the identifiers and messaging standards that institutions have already relied on, including ISO 20022, DTI, ISIN, IVMS101, and ERC-3643. As a result, compliance evidence can be directly connected to the infrastructure already used by counterparties, without the need for a separate conversion layer.
- Unchangeable records. Each operation is written only once and cannot be edited or deleted by anyone thereafter, including administrators. Sentinel allows auditors, regulatory authorities, and counterparties to confirm that the records have not been altered without direct access to the system.
OpenAssets, the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Surendra Kalidindi stated: "There is only one reason why compliance in the tokenization market fails: the inability to prove transferability. Based on our own experience as registration and transfer agents, we created Sentinel to bind obligations with control at the time they are written, and to generate proofs that any counterparty can verify, rather than just screenshots that they can only trust our words for. The model makes suggestions, human decisions are made, and they are recorded in a way that cannot be changed afterwards. This is what 'auditability' should mean in the tokenization market."
