Disney is laying off employees, and this is the third round of layoffs since Amaro took over in mid-March of this year.

An informed source confirmed to Business Insider that Disney is laying off hundreds of employees across various teams, involving departments such as technology and human resources. Deadline was the first to report on this round of layoffs on Tuesday.

In mid-April, Disney carried out a large-scale layoff, which was less than a month before Amaro took over from Bob Iger who had long held the position of CEO. At that time, the layoffs were accompanied by adjustments to Disney's marketing organization, but employees from other teams, including some from ESPN, were also affected.

In a memorandum in April, D' Amaro stated that these layoffs "are not a negation of their contributions, nor are they a negation of the company's overall strength."

Another round of layoffs occurred in July. As ESPN integrated the employees of NFL Network acquired earlier this year, ESPN was particularly hard hit.

Discharged Disney employees will receive severance pay based on their rank and length of service. Non-management staff who have worked at the company for less than 5 years will be entitled to 4 weeks' salary; those with more than 5 years of service will receive 1 week's salary for each year of service, with a maximum of 52 weeks.
