Strategy purchased 334 bitcoins between October 1st and 4th, spending 28.7 million US dollars, and at the same time repurchased 176.3 million US dollars worth of Stretch preferred stocks. According to a document, the company's digital asset earnings for the third quarter are estimated to be 20.91 billion US dollars.
This batch of bitcoins was purchased between October 1st and 4th, totaling 28.7 million US dollars, at an average price of 85,838.80 US dollars per coin, which increased Strategy's bitcoin holdings to 848,000 coins. This holding size has set a new record for this bitcoin treasury company, further rising from the high point reached by the company in June. The company did not purchase any bitcoins during the last three days of September.
Strategy said on social media: “Strategy reports a $21 billion gain on digital assets in Q3 2026. Last week, we acquired 334 $ BTC and repurchased $176M of $ STRC. As of 10/4/26, we hold 848,000 BTC and $5.7B of USD Assets. $ MSTR”
The company's US dollar balance is currently divided into two parts: one part is $4.88 billion of USD Reserve, which is used to cover preferred stock dividends and debt interest; the other part is $833.4 million of USD Cash, which is used for general purposes, including Bitcoin. Within the week ending October 4th, the company withdrew $142.5 million from the reserve funds to pay dividends and interest.
The quarterly earnings are the largest figure in this document. Strategy measures Bitcoin at fair value; therefore, the $20.91 billion reflects the price increase throughout the quarter. Additionally, the company has provided for $1.88 billion in related deferred taxes.

The average cost of the overall position is $75,440.70 per coin, while the price of Bitcoin purchased last week is nearly 14% higher than this cost. The company continues to increase its holdings of Bitcoin at small amounts above its own cost, and at the same time, it is using more funds to repurchase preferred stocks that have been trading below a par value of $100 for several months.
This pattern is not unique to Strategy. Another Bitcoin treasury company, Metaplanet, sold 10,000 Bitcoins in its third quarter and repurchased 11,000, conducting a round-trip operation aimed at demonstrating to credit rating agencies its ability to liquidate Bitcoins at any time. Today, for these two companies, attention to the credit side on their balance sheets is just as important as attention to the size of their Bitcoin holdings.
