After its latest round of financing, the估值 of AI, a proxy company valued at $10 billion, has reached that amount. Instinct is now expanding into group chat scenarios. The startup announced on Monday that users will be able to add this proxy to their chats with friends, which could be helpful in various situations such as planning trips, securing tickets for events, managing fantasy sports leagues, organizing carpooling, or deciding who will bring what to Thanksgiving gatherings.
It is worth noting that Instinct indicates that even if the user's friends have not yet joined Instinct, this AI group chat feature can still be used.
With the launch of this feature, Instinct has taken another step forward in its competition with the main competitors in this field, such as Meta's Muse. The latter has not yet provided a group chat function, however, Meta's earlier launched application Meta AI can already be joined to the group chats of WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook.
Recently, the product advancement pace of Instinct and Muse has been quite close. Over the past few weeks, both have added the capability to make phone calls in an attempt to gain more market share in the consumer-grade AI sector. Last week, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Dots, which is a personal AI agent that can also be used in ChatGPT Spaces – in this collaborative workspace, Dots and humans can work together.
On the X platform, Instinct founder Noah Shinn explained how Instinct handles user privacy and security in group chats. He stated that users' personal Instinct proxies will seek permission before connecting with the group's Instinct proxies; users can also choose which groups to trust on their own, and they can revoke this trust at any time.
Shinn also indicates that the Instinct within the group is isolated from the user's personal account, and cannot access it. Before sharing information or performing any operations, the personal agent will obtain the user's consent first.
If new members join the group chat, any replies that are pending to be sent from the user Instinct will be temporarily retained and not immediately shared with the entire group.
"Making plans with friends often turns into frustrating back-and-forth communications over time and location. With Instinct in the group, you can explore options together, reach a plan, and get things done within the same conversation thread," writes Shinn.
This feature will first be rolled out to the early access users of Instinct, and will be extended to all users "soon." If users wish to qualify for this new feature (or other recently added features), they can have their Instinct agent add them to the trial list.
