Netflix has released the first trailer for the new series "Altruists" (The Altruists). This upcoming series will bring to screen the massive, multi-billion-dollar fraud scheme that led to the collapse of the cryptocurrency empire Sam Bankman - Fried FTX.

This eight-episode series will be launched on this streaming platform on November 19th. Anthony Boyle will play the role of Bankman-Fried in the series, while Julia Garner will play the role of Caroline Ellison — she was once a senior executive in the crypto industry and is also the ex-girlfriend of Bankman-Fried.

The main creator and executive producer of the drama, Graham Moore, stated: "During the years depicted in our drama, Sam and Caroline had the best intentions, but step by step, they convinced each other as well as themselves, and ultimately committed a series of terrible crimes."

Ellison previously admitted to conspiring with Bankman-Fried and served about 11 months in prison. She has recently been employed by the platform Manifund which provided her with funding.

In 2024, after a jury found all seven charges of fraud and conspiracy to be established, Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

He is currently still being held in a federal prison with low security levels in California.

Federal prison records show that Bankman-Fried is expected to be released on Christmas Day in 2043.
