China's automotive system with full redundancy AP04 EPS platform has obtained UL-issued ISO 26262 ASIL-D functional safety product certification
Wuhan, China, October 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- China Automotive Systems Corporation (China Automotive Systems, Inc, NASDAQ: CAAS, hereinafter referred to as “CAAS” or “the Company”) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hubei Henglong Automotive Systems Group (hereinafter referred to as “Henglong”), has completed a full-redundancy AP04 EPS platform assessment conducted by an international third-party institution UL designated by a client, and has obtained the ISO Functional Safety Product Certification for ASIL-D of the AP04 EPS platform.
The AP04 EPS platform is a new generation electronic steering control platform developed by Hang Lung, designed to meet the requirements of high-safety steering as well as L3 / L4 level autonomous driving. This platform adopts an independent dual-link redundancy design, which allows the backup link to quickly take over and maintain effective steering control in the event of a failure in a single channel, ensuring the achievement of ASIL-D safety objectives. These include a random hardware failure rate of less than 10 FIT, and meeting the applicable single-point failure/latent failure indicators within the certified range ( SPFM ≥99% / LFM ≥90%).
The company stated that the UL certification covers parts 2 to 9 of ISO 26262:2018, which are also within the scope of AP04 certification, and comes with the dual recognition mark of ANAB / IAF. This certificate is expected to support the company in conducting market access negotiations with global automakers, but it still needs to meet the individual qualifications and audit requirements of each automotive company. The company mentioned that the ASIL-D certificate has international mutual recognition and is widely accepted in North American and European markets. The mass production plan for the European market is set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Hang Lung has been deeply involved in this field for over 30 years. The company stated that, relying on its two major R&D centers in Wuhan and Sweden, it has made breakthroughs in intelligent EPS and electronic steering technologies, and has obtained multiple international certifications, including those from ISO 26262, ASIL-D, ASPICE CL2, and ISO 21434.
CAAS CEO Wu Qizhou stated: "The AP04 EPS platform has obtained ASIL-D product certification. Coupled with our ASPICE 4.0 CL2 process capabilities and compliance with the ISO / SAE 21434 network security standards, we are better prepared for mass production in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026. We now have the capability to serve global automakers that require systems with the highest security standards."
