Amazon released two new Bee listening devices on Thursday, including a wearable device and a voice recorder the size of a credit card, marking the company's latest advancement in the AI gadget market.

Bee Frontier is an upgraded version of Amazon's existing wearable devices. It can be worn on the wrist or clipped onto clothing. Similar to earlier versions, Bee Frontier has a battery life of up to seven days, but it also comes at a higher price of $75, compared to the previous generation's price of $50.

In July 2025, Amazon acquired Bee, a startup based in San Francisco that is known for its always-on-wear bracelets. The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed. The Bee bracelet is equipped with artificial intelligence and a microphone, capable of recording, transcribing, and analyzing conversations.

Amazon stated in a blog post that the dual-microphone upgrade of Bee Frontier has enhanced its noise cancellation filtering capabilities, "allowing it to record important content and ignore insignificant details, even in noisy environments such as crowded restaurants or open-plan offices."

Amazon has also launched a product priced at $100, Bee Eclipse. Its functions are similar to those of other Bee devices, but it is not wearable; instead, it is attached to the back of a smartphone using magnetic attraction and is about the size of a credit card.

The company stated that Bee Frontier will be available for purchase starting from Thursday, while Bee Eclipse is "about to be launched" on the market.

As technology companies launch a series of new AI hardware products before the holiday season, Amazon is also updating its Bee product line. Amazon has abandoned its Fire tablet series targeting the low-price market and has turned to launching three Alexa tablets that incorporate AI; Microsoft showcased a Windows laptop equipped with NVIDIA chips, while Apple released a HomeView smart home hub fitted with Siri AI.

Bee devices will compete with other AI wearable devices on the market.

The smart glasses under Meta that incorporate AI and come with built-in cameras are gaining increasing momentum. At the same time, these glasses have also raised widespread concerns among users, advocacy groups, and legislators regarding privacy and civil rights.

Meta also announced the launch of a palm-sized pendant named Muse Charm, which runs its latest Muse AI assistant. Plaud developed a card-style note-taking device, while Friend launched a AI necklace.

Amazon's voice activation Echo smart speakers gradually get users used to interacting with the Alexa AI assistant, but the original design of these devices is to start listening only when triggered by a so-called wake word.

Once enabled, the Bee device will record continuously. Amazon states that this allows it to implement key features such as conversation summaries, as well as "reviewing memories from the past few days to remember what you have discussed." It can also track "recurring trends or topics," thereby providing personalized goals or action suggestions.

After subscribing to Bee Pro for $12 per month, users can obtain unlimited conversation summaries and daily memories, and it can also be integrated with Amazon's online store, Alexa + AI assistants, as well as third-party applications.

The company stated that the design goal of the Bee device is to “make it impossible for anyone, including Amazon, to access your data.” Users can delete their own transcriptions and summaries at any time, and Amazon claims that “no audio will be stored.”

Amazon states that the LED indicator light will turn on when the Bee device is recording.
