Tinicum, New Jersey, and Mountain View, California, October 19th / PRNewswire / -- Cognizant (Nasdaq ticker: CTSH ) and Google Cloud today announced a significant expansion of their partnership to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI, which includes the establishment of a new Gemini Frontier Capability Group. This team brings together a dedicated global workforce to combine Google's full-stack, enterprise-oriented AI platform with the domain, industry, and engineering expertise possessed by AI Builder.

With the support of over 18,000 full-time employees from Cognizant, this new team represents a significant joint investment and builds upon the momentum generated by Cognizant's dedicated Gemini initiatives launched in April 2026. The team's goal is to establish a pathway from pilot projects to full-scale production, enabling companies to securely deploy resilient, enterprise-level agents that can help create measurable business value.

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S stated: "By establishing our dedicated Gemini Frontier Capability Group, we enable our finest cutting-edge engineering talents to focus entirely on helping customers to put state-of-the-art AI into production. Our ' Build with Gemini ' workshops have allowed over 55,000 employees to gain direct experience in this area, enabling them to acquire practical skills on one of the world's most advanced AI platforms. And it is this new team that ensures that this experience is put to use every day."

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated: "To deploy AI agents on a large scale, we need reliable partners with strong architectural and integration capabilities. The Frontier Capability Group team established specifically for this purpose, along with their Gemini skills enhancement program for tens of thousands of engineers, will help our common customers accelerate the adoption of autonomous agents throughout their enterprises."

Introduce Gemini Frontier Capability Group

The team aims to meet the growing needs of enterprises for scaled AI execution and plans to utilize Gemini — the Google Cloud platform for building, governing, and deploying agents — to provide production-ready AI solutions that help global enterprises achieve business results. In the initial phase, the team will focus its engineering capabilities on modernizing legacy systems, intelligentizing developer experiences, automating business processes, and advancing network defense.

To implement these capabilities, the team plans to deploy a standardized, security-first architecture called agentic, which is built upon the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and reinforced by Model Armor of Google Cloud. These trusted frameworks are expected to support a new set of collaborative enterprise solutions that can be directly put into production, including Cognizant Catalog Support Agent for the retail industry (CSA), Neuro ® San-enabled healthcare Agentic Marketplace, as well as multi-agent Order-to-Cash ( O2C ) workflows for the manufacturing industry.

Expand achievements through Frontier Certified Engineers

The foundation of this team lies in the joint commitment of Google Cloud and Cognizant to expand customer execution capabilities through Frontier Certified Engineers. An early case study demonstrated the practical effects of this approach: Cognizant integrated the Gemini AI model into its software development lifecycle, helping a leading retailer increase developer productivity by 40%, reduce time to market by 30%, and achieve a 35% cost savings, highlighting the transformative potential of AI in driving software engineering.

As part of the Cognizant Frontier Certification Skills Enhancement Program, the company recently completed the “Build with Gemini” workshop with Google Cloud. Employees from Cognizant obtained Gemini certification while building AI intelligents and applications. More than 55,000 Cognizant employees have completed this workshop, making it the largest single Gemini partner workshop to date, and marking an important step forward for Cognizant in building a team of certified professionals at the forefront.

Cognizant is also being widely implemented internally with Gemini. The company previously announced in July that this year it would deploy Gemini to 100,000 employees and plans to expand this number to 200,000, while continuing to enhance the certification requirements for professionals on that platform.
