Detroit – General Motors will release its third-quarter financial report before the opening bell on Tuesday.
The following are the current predictions from Wall Street, based on the averages summarized by LSEG:
- Earnings per share: Estimated to be $3.63 after adjustment.
- Revenues: Estimated to be $48.7 billion
These results will mean that revenue is roughly the same as it was in the same period last year, while adjusted earnings per share have increased by about 30%. General Motors' performance for the third quarter of 2025 includes revenue of $48.59 billion, net profit attributable to shareholders of $1.3 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80.
Investors will be watching whether General Motors will raise its guidance for 2026, as well as whether it will reveal its expectations for next year in advance; Wall Street expects that next year will be a tough year for the U.S. automotive industry.
JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta stated in an investor report on October 11: "We expect the third-quarter results for 2026 to be roughly in line with or slightly better than expected, but investors are likely to focus on the revisions for 2027. We believe that the results will not provide significant room for upside."
Wall Street analysts have differing opinions on whether General Motors will raise its guidance again on Tuesday. The company has raised its guidance several times this year, but the market is concerned about slowing sales and rising commodity costs.
General Motors raised its forecasts for 2026 when announcing its second-quarter results, setting the adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) forecast at $14 billion to $16 billion, or an adjusted earnings per share of $12 to $14. Its adjusted free cash flow from operations for automobiles is forecasted at $9.5 billion to $11.5 billion.
In addition to performance and guidance, investors will also be watching the progress of the company's re-designed full-size pickup truck launch, the progress of cost reduction efforts, and whether there has been significant growth in General Motors' software and services business.
