Tether led the $15 million Series A financing for New York-based company Mural, supporting this fintech company in developing payment infrastructure for enterprises and artificial intelligence agents.

According to the announcement on October 20th from Mural, North Island Ventures and existing investors also participated in this round of financing, bringing the total amount raised to 28 million US dollars.

Mural indicates that this investment will be used for international expansion, as well as for developing software agents to provide the banking, payment, and compliance services required for financial exchanges.

The company was established in 2022 by former Palantir engineers Sinclair Toffa and Chris Fernandes. It provides infrastructure to help enterprises manage accounts, payment instructions, authentication, and comply with regulatory requirements on bank networks and blockchain.

Its clients include the global payroll service provider Deel, browser developer Opera, and financial technology platform Axexo. Through the system of Mural, enterprises can offer accounts holding dollars, local currencies, and stablecoins, without having to manage separate financial infrastructures for each payment method.

The company stated that since the launch of its application programming interface in 2025, it has processed payments totaling $2.1 billion for users in 128 countries and regions. The volume of payments recorded so far in 2026 is nearly six times that of the entire year in 2025.

Mural has not yet disclosed the valuation corresponding to this round of financing. Fortune Previous reports stated that the company completed a $5 million seed round of financing in 2022 and subsequently received additional funds from its existing supporters.

This financing provided new capital for Mural, which will be used to develop the AI software service that can initiate transactions under corporate-set instructions.

"The economy is about to welcome 10 billion new participants, and not a single one of them is human," said Sinclair Toffa, the CEO of Mural, in a statement.

Toffa describes the next phase of the company as extending financial infrastructure from enterprises and individuals to autonomous software that operates on their behalf.

Mural is still developing payment control functions for AI proxies. Its infrastructure allows enterprises to decide how software proxies can access accounts and execute transactions.

Its account management system includes expenditure limits, approved counterparties, and additional authorization requirements for payments that exceed established thresholds.

For enterprises that deploy the AI proxy, these control mechanisms determine which transactions the automated system can initiate, as well as which payments require further approval.

This arrangement is designed to operate across banking services, payment networks, and blockchain systems, providing enterprises with a unified record of financial activities.

Tether, the Chief Executive Officer, stated that Mural's experience in connecting enterprise software with stablecoin payment services was an important factor in facilitating this investment.

"As agents begin to transfer funds, connections to banks, payment networks, and compliance systems become crucial, as the world still relies on these systems to function," said Ardoino.

The founder of Mural developed this method during their tenure at Palantir, where they assisted large companies in connecting software systems that performed different functions.

Today, the company applies a similar model to financial services, where engineers work directly with clients to establish integrations in various markets.

Deel The payment officer, Olek Shtanoprud, praised the engineers of this startup for their understanding of local payment conditions and for working side by side with their salary team in Colombia.

Mural Technologies itself is not a bank. Its payment services are provided through Mural Networks, which is a currency service company registered in FinCEN and, where applicable, provides services through partners that are federal chartered banks in the United States.

This round of financing for Mural continues Tether's multiple investments in automated payment, artificial intelligence, and financial infrastructure companies.

On October 15th, Tether Capital announced an investment in AIsa. This company provides access to paid software, data, and computing power services for AI agents.

According to previous reports from crypto.news, the financing of AIsa has brought its total financing amount to over 9 million US dollars. Tether and HIVEN have participated alongside existing investors, including Alibaba and Tribe Capital.

AIsa focuses on automating the procurement of digital services, while Mural provides the underlying account, permission, and payment infrastructure used by fintech companies. Both investments were announced separately, and neither company has disclosed any integration between the two.

On October 20th, Tether Capital also participated in the financing of Tenstorrent, joining this AI computing company's $1.5 billion Series E financing, with the latter being valued at $6.2 billion.

Tenstorrent develops processors, computing systems, and software for artificial intelligence workloads. Tether did not disclose the specific amount of capital contributed or the percentage of shares held in this round of financing.

Therefore, this stablecoin issuer has invested in companies across various sectors of the AI industry, including payment services, proprietary software, and computing infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Mural recently changed its company name from Mural Pay. In a company statement on October 14th, Toffa stated that the existing team, licenses, and compliance arrangements will remain unchanged after the name change.
