Micron outlined its stacked integrated HBM memory products at the 2026 Annual Technology Forum. It is expected that when the standard HBM5 becomes available in 2028, two new types of 3DS memory will also be launched: vHBM and vEIM designed for edge-side AI inference. Micron stated that these solutions will adopt bumpless hybrid bonding technology and incorporate integrated cooling solutions.

News from the IT family on October 22nd: Micron (Micron) held its annual technology webinar yesterday local time, where they looked ahead to DRAM, pan-HBM, NAND, and SSD. This article focuses on the pan-HBM memory products that feature stacked integration.

Micron expects that in 2028, when the standard HBM5 will be released, there will also be two new types of 3DS memory, namely vHBM and vEIM.

vHBM can be understood as a 3D integrated version of HBM. It utilizes vertically stacked DRAM Die, Base Die, and XPU logic main chips, which can further shorten the data communication path, improve bandwidth efficiency, and reduce energy consumption. vHBM can also coexist with standard 2.5D HBM.

vEIM is structurally similar to vHBM, but its design is aimed at the end-user side AI inference scenarios. The initial product aims to achieve a bandwidth of 2TB/s and an energy efficiency of <1pj / bit.

To achieve vHBM and vEIM, Micron plans to apply bump-free hybrid bonding technology and introduce integrated cooling solutions.

Micron Announces G11 NAND: Over 400 Layers of Stacking, Double Density, Capacity Increase in the Second Half of 2027
Micron outlined its vision for DRAM, HBM, NAND, and SSD at the 2026 Annual Technology Symposium, revealing that production capacity for G11 NAND is expected to begin to ramp up in the second half of 2027. This generation of products features over 400 layers stacked on top of each other, utilizing wafer-on-wafer bonding technology. The storage density, calculated by area, is approximately twice that of the current 276-layer G9 NAND. The I/O speed can be increased by up to 1.5 times, and data transmission energy consumption can be reduced by more than 25%.

Tesla begins producing Optimus humanoid robots at its Fremont factory; Musk says it will still take about a year or even longer to reach a weekly production of 20,000 units
Tesla stated in its financial report for the third quarter of 2026 that it has commenced the production of Optimus humanoid robots on one of the mass production lines at its Fremont factory. However, Musk mentioned that it will still take about a year or even longer for this production line to reach a target capacity of 20,000 units per week. The company also noted that if the integration of AI5 chips goes smoothly, it is expected to be completed by April next year, but the robots may not be available for external supply until the end of 2027.
