Pi Network Launches 4 Developer Updates Ahead of the November Summit

Pi Network has released four updates, covering application development, token tracking, AI auxiliary software packaging, and authentication, all before its ecosystem summit from November 17th to 19th.

  • Developers can now manage application settings through a redesigned portal in a dedicated configuration area.
  • Pi BlockExplorer now displays the historical prices of the Launchpad Testnet token, including the price of SLICE relative to Test-Pi.
  • The newly added AI skill can help developers prepare for applications that are identified through Pi Desktop.
  • PiVerify has added unique face recognition checks and further liveness detection for enterprises that use its identity services.

In its announcement on October 29th, Pi Network introduced these changes, which are aimed at enterprises that develop applications using SoloHost, release software based on SoloHost, and perform identity verification for customers.

This release follows closely on the announcement of its first ecosystem summit. That announcement outlined a three-day series of online demonstrations, application showcases, and discussions with developers. During the event, new platform announcements and details about another hackathon will also be unveiled.

Pi Network Reorganize developers' application settings

In Developer Portal, a dedicated App Configuration section has replaced the previous entry-level checklist. Developers can now manage domain names, API keys, application wallets, and privacy information in the same place.

The team stated that the navigation has also been adjusted to guide users more clearly to services such as Pi Sign, In, Ecosystem Listing, PiNet, and Pi Ad Network.

These changes are built upon the updates to the developer version in September. At that time, the updates introduced local storage for certain Pi Browser applications, exclusive access to pledged data for those applications, and file sharing features.

For approved applications, local storage allows preferences and session information to be retained on the user's device. Pi indicates that this data is not stored on their servers, but it is still associated with a specific account and device, and it will not be automatically synchronized between different devices.

The updates in September will also integrate the documentation under a domain name owned by Pi, bringing together resources that were previously scattered across SDK documentation, community guidelines, and GitHub. The relevant guidelines cover registration, sandbox development, authentication, payment, as well as preparing applications for Mainnet.

SoloHost Added AI auxiliary application packaging

For developers who are migrating existing software to Pi Desktop, the new SoloHost skill can accept a public Docker image and help prepare the files required for submitting the application.

The supported encoding assistants include Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. According to Pi, after asking what functions the application requires, these assistants will generate and verify two configuration files.

This packaging feature was introduced after Desktop 0.6.4. The 0.6.4 version eliminated the requirement to configure a home router when remotely accessing supported SoloHost applications.

In the version notes on October 22nd, Pi explained that users can access applications running on their own computers through Pi Browser on their mobile phones. Remote access is still an option, and existing users can choose “Reconnect” to switch to the new connection method.

The desktop version update also includes checks on applications' access to files and the network. Pi indicates that these checks will run at the time of software release, before installation, and every time the application is launched, which helps to restrict access to unrelated computer files, other applications, as well as Pi Node data.

Launchpad Price chart covers Testnet asset

The price history feature of Pi BlockExplorer covers tokens such as Launchpad Testnet, for example, SLICE. The prices are denominated in Test-Pi. Public access does not require a Pi account or Pi Browser.

The team has made it clear that these experimental tokens “will never enter Mainnet.” It is expected that future Mainnet tokens will also appear in the same interface once that feature is launched.

According to the Launchpad mode described in the announcement, the profits obtained by Pi from token issuance will go into the liquidity pool paired with the ecosystem tokens, rather than being taken by the issuing project party.

In the October summit announcement, Pi stated that the number of its Mainnet applications had exceeded 300, along with over 420,000 nodes and 18.1 million users who have completed KYC certification.

As crypto.news previously pointed out, the number of applications does not indicate how many people will use each product regularly or make payments. The latest developer announcement does not provide the total number of active developers, nor does it offer a comparable sequence of application growth.

PiVerify Expands inspections of external enterprises

PiVerify The newly added face uniqueness check is designed to help enterprises identify potentially duplicate identities. Further live detection allows customers to initiate verification again after the user has completed their initial identity verification.

According to the team, third-party companies pay using Pi to use this service, which relies on verification technology developed for the network KYC system.

The announcement on October 29 did not specify how the participating companies would handle biometric records, for how long the information would be retained, or what customer data they would receive.

During the summit in November, Pi plans to showcase company and community applications, demonstrate developer tools, and arrange discussions between builders and Core Team. The event announcement states that details about the hackathon will be announced during the relevant sessions.

Earn higher rewards with just one click on your USD balance; behind that is actually three layers of DeFi
In Ethena Pay, users only need to transfer a portion of their US dollar balance to Earn+, and after confirmation, they can receive higher rewards. This button, which seems like a "balance upgrade," actually consists of three layers behind the scenes: Upshift provides the infrastructure for the vault, Steakhouse plans and operates the strategies, and Aave V4 offers a lending market on Avalanche. Although the operation has become simpler, there are actually more entities that the funds pass through.

In Canada, in August GDP, there was no growth; the rebound in retail sales was offset by wholesale and government sectors.
Canada's real GDP in August showed almost no change, remaining stagnant for the second consecutive month. On October 30th, Statistics Canada announced that out of 20 industries, 9 experienced expansion: retail trade grew by 1.2%, and manufacturing by 0.3%; however, wholesale trade declined by 1.4%, as did the public sector. This "zero growth" in the overall figure is the result of several opposing industry trends canceling each other out.
