Fermaca announces the launch of the AI factory platform driven by NVIDIA, aimed at providing computing power support for Mexico and Latin America.
Mexico's first NVIDIA Cloud Partner indicates that it will combine its own energy and infrastructure capabilities with NVIDIA accelerated computing to create a new AI production base in the region. The platform will be rolled out in phases starting from Fermaca Digital Origins in Mexico City, leveraging Fermaca's experience in infrastructure development and operation, as well as NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform, to expand the channels for enterprises and institutions to obtain the computing power required to build and deploy AI.
Fermaca indicates that its strategy covers the underlying infrastructure behind AI, ranging from “gas to token”. The company combines its capabilities in natural gas infrastructure and energy development with fiber optic connections, AI facilities, and accelerated computing. Fermaca states that this integrated approach is aimed at overcoming the infrastructure constraints that determine where AI can be built and to what scale it can be expanded, thereby laying the foundation to serve the growing needs of the entire region in Mexico.
These measures are aimed at promoting economic progress in Mexico and enhancing the country's digital sovereignty by building AI development and deployment capabilities on Mexico's own infrastructure. Fermaca states that, combined with local expertise, such capabilities can help Mexican enterprises, universities, and institutions address national priorities and retain more of the knowledge and economic value created by AI.
Manuel Calvillo represents: " Fermaca is investing in Mexico's ability to produce intelligence, create economic value, and shape its own technological future. Our ambitions extend from gas molecule to token: connecting the energy and digital infrastructure necessary for productive intelligence. With the help of NVIDIA to accelerate computing, we are extending our familiar infrastructure construction capabilities to the computational power that businesses across Mexico and Latin America are increasingly relying on. Our goal is to make these developments a lasting contribution to Mexico's progress as well as the prosperity and well-being of its communities."
NVIDIA, Director of Corporate Business for Latin America, stated: "We are delighted to support Mexico's growing AI ecosystem and to bring accelerated computing powered by NVIDIA to more enterprises and developers. As a NVIDIA Cloud Partner, Fermaca is building a AI factory driven by NVIDIA B300 NVL72 systems, helping Mexican and Latin American companies to develop and deploy AI using their own data."
The platform of Fermaca is designed to connect regional customers with the NVIDIA AI infrastructure located in Mexico. Enterprises can utilize this computing power to develop models based on their own data and integrate AI into their operational processes; developers and research institutions will have a foundation for creating new applications. For NVIDIA and its ecosystem, this deployment provides a new pathway to serve the needs of Mexico and Latin America as local adoption of AI grows.
Fermaca Digital Origins is the first deployment project on this platform, equipped with the initial NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra cluster. Subsequent deployment roadmaps will also include NVIDIA Vera Rubin. Inventec will provide the computing system, DDN will provide storage, while Fermaca is responsible for infrastructure development and operation.
Co-founder Paul Bloch stated: “Fermaca is connecting the infrastructure that supports industry with the infrastructure that will support intelligence. Its vision creates significant opportunities for Mexico to become a large-scale AI producer and to serve customers throughout Latin America. We are very proud to support this ambition; our data infrastructure is designed to continuously provide data for NVIDIA GPU and to transform advanced computing into productive AI capabilities.”
Inventec Corporation marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Inventec and Fermaca. We are delighted to combine our engineering expertise with the computing systems driven by NVIDIA, along with Fermaca's infrastructure capabilities; as Fermaca expands its AI platform in Mexico and Latin America, we are also committed to growing together.
The near-term goal of Fermaca is to achieve a total power capacity of 60 megawatts by December 31, 2027, to support the operation of the AI facility, which includes computing, cooling, and supporting infrastructure systems. In the longer term, the Fermaca Digital City located in Durango represents a long-term goal of up to 1 gigawatt of IT capacity, with this metric measuring only the computing equipment itself. Fermaca indicates that these are independent development milestones, and the expansion of the platform will be carried out in phases.
According to Fermaca, it has received full support from the federal, state, and municipal government authorities in Mexico, which reflects the joint commitment of all parties to build the infrastructure necessary for Mexico's AI economy. Fermaca stated that this coordinated support strengthens their ambition to position Mexico as a strategic hub for production and services in Latin America, and also advances the national development goals of the Plan M token issuance.
Fermaca indicates that the company is consistently committed to serving the communities in which it operates and promotes development throughout the entire value chain: from natural gas and energy infrastructure, to engineering, digital connectivity, AI computing, and education. Its goal is to transform investments into sustainable local opportunities, enhance skills, and contribute to the common prosperity and well-being of the people of Mexico.
Fermaca and NVIDIA are still continuing to advance the "Méx Token Issuance Aprende IA con Fermaca y NVIDIA" project, which originated in Durango. The aim of this project is to provide university teachers with AI knowledge, teaching resources, and practical training that can be brought into the classroom. By helping educators influence future generations of students, the project seeks to cultivate local talent and enable more Mexicans to participate in the opportunities brought about by AI.
