According to CoinMeta, Elon Musk publicly praised Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, stating that he invested $28 billion in Blue Origin, Bezos also mentioned the possibility of a initial public offering (IPO) for Blue Origin in the future. The two billionaires have been competing for launch contracts and satellite internet customers for many years. Musk's rocket company went public in June. In a conversation with Fox News anchor Brett Bell, Bezos revealed that the company recently raised $10 billion from external investors, which is the first external financing in its 26-year history. Bell added that the demand for investment exceeded the number of shares available. Bezos explained why he waited so long to bring in external investors, saying, “I didn’t want external investors in until I was sure it was a good investment for them.” Bezos also stated that Blue Origin’s IPO might not happen soon, with an expected public listing “in a few years.” Despite raising funds, Blue Origin is still behind SpaceX, which had a valuation of $1.77 trillion at the time of its IPO.
