Justin Drake: Activate 'Protection Mode' to Protect Cryptocurrency Assets from AI Threats
2026-10-09 05:58:09
According to CoinMeta, senior researchers from Justin Drake and Ethereum Foundation have recently issued a warning that AI may be able to “crack” elliptic curve cryptography within the next few months. They are calling on the entire crypto industry, especially large entities, to switch to “protective mode” and migrate most of their crypto assets to new wallets suitable for deep cold storage in order to protect those assets from the impending threat of a breakthrough by AI. Drake emphasizes that creating and storing most digital tokens in new “protected” wallets that have never been used for any transactions will help digital asset owners remain safe in the event of a first attack. They also mention that BTC holders who follow this best practice should avoid reusing addresses. Drake believes that the threat from AI is imminent, and although he does not recommend immediately transferring funds to new wallets, it is important to take the risk posed by AI to cryptography seriously and to minimize exposure to cryptographic systems that may be vulnerable to AI.
