Polygon Labs Acquires Coinme to Enter the Payment Field
2026-10-18 03:02:34
According to CoinMeta, Polygon Labs has completed the acquisition of US-based crypto payment service provider Coinme with the aim of entering the payment industry by leveraging stablecoin infrastructure. CEO Marc Boiron states that this acquisition allows Polygon to take control of customer relationships and capture intermediary revenues, and Polygon has transformed into a blockchain-based fund transfer company centered on payments. Polygon plans to achieve profitability in its regulated payment business by 2027, with Open Money Stack launched in January supporting stablecoin payments and cross-border transfers. In the fiscal year 2025, Visa processed over $12.3 trillion in payments, and Stripe reached $1.9 trillion in transaction volume. Coinme helps Polygon gain more control over the exchange of cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and fiat currencies; its unified payment platform is currently in the technical preview stage, with early users including Tazapay, Mesh, Toku, and Kira.
