The US CFTC反驳CME's lawsuit regarding sustainable futures regulatory policies

According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coindesk, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) refuted a lawsuit filed by the CME group against its sustainable futures regulatory policies in the latest court documents. The CFTC argued that CME failed to prove that the new policies caused actual or imminent financial losses, and in fact, the trading volume of cryptocurrency futures CME increased after the policy adjustments. In May of this year, CFTC approved the launch of the United States' first Bitcoin sustainable futures contract by Kalshi and plans to regulate such products on a case-by-case basis. CME argues that since sustainable contracts have no expiration date, they should be classified as swaps (swap) and therefore subject to different regulatory rules. Analysts from TD Cowen believe that CME may still have an advantage in terms of litigation eligibility and product classification disputes. However, as the sustainable contract market continues to expand during the litigation period, even if CME ultimately wins the case, the difficulty of reversing the existing market arrangements may increase.
