Hyperliquid Policy Center submits a letter of opinion to CFTC, calling for the launch of AI computing power derivatives

According to CoinMeta, Hyperliquid Policy Center ( HPC ) submitted a letter of opinion to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission ( CFTC ), calling for the approval of perpetual contracts and traditional futures contracts based on AI computing power on regulated exchanges in the United States. These contracts would cover GPU computing power rental durations ( GPU-hours ) and AI derivative tokens, among others. HPC believes that the price of AI computing power is highly volatile, and data center operators, AI developers, and lending institutions need derivatives to manage price risks. Perpetual contracts can provide a continuous hedging tool that does not require regular renewal. HPC also recommends that CFTC establish reliable computing power price index standards, allow settlement using different reference indices, and prevent manipulation risks through market monitoring and position limits. CFTC began seeking public feedback on the listing of computing power derivatives back in August of this year, but relevant products have not yet been approved.
