According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coindesk, seven listed companies including Microsoft, Alphabet (the parent company of Google), and Goldman Sachs oppose the trading of tokenized versions of their stocks on OKXICE, a joint platform between OKX and ICE (the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange). According to an update from OKXICE on October 19th, new opponents include Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, and Western Data, raising the total number of companies expressing opposition to 16. Previously, companies such as Broadcom, Verizon, and CoreWeave had also voiced their opposition. OKXICE plans to launch 24/7 tokenized stock trading under the "Innovation Exemption" framework of US SEC, using stablecoins for settlement and backed 1:1 by actual stocks. This framework allows issuers to oppose the tokenization of their stocks on specific platforms, but the specific reasons for each company's opposition have not yet been disclosed.
