CoinMeta data: French legislators passed an amendment on Friday with a one-vote difference that considers the exchange of cryptocurrencies for stablecoins to be a taxable event. Of the 100 representatives who voted, 38 supported the amendment, 37 opposed it, and 25 abstained, resulting in a final vote of 75 in favor, which just met the required majority of 38 votes. According to the amendment, starting from January 1, 2027, transactions involving stablecoins will be considered sales, and the profits will be taxed at France's unified tax rate, which has been raised from 30% to 31.4%. In addition, the amendment also requires holders to declare their own crypto assets at the end of the year; failure to do so could result in a fine of up to 10,000 euros.
